I’ve been thinking, what if you wanted to completely ruin someones chances of getting on Digg’s front page? Underhanded, dirty, unethical, and downright evil but…what if?
If you simply submitted their homepage to Digg, and any other page you wanted, made sure it got no diggs…then they wouldn’t be able to submit it again. Even worse, once a story has been on Digg for more than 24 hours it is impossible to reach the front page, meaning even if they dugg the story like crazy they would still be screwed.
You could even take it one step farther. After submitting their pages to Digg you could organize a group of Diggers to mark the stories as spam. If done enough this will result in the site being banned from Digg, prohibiting any future submissions from that site. Complete annihilation.
But who would want to do that…
P.S. - If for some reason this happens to you, and your site is artificially banned, just email Digg. Their customer service is actually fairly responsive and any legitimate problems are sure to be sorted out in no time.
